IOS MIRRORING
« on: August 24, 2013, 05:48:09 PM »
Downloaded  Chromecast & set it up.  Using IPAD MINI IOS 6.1.3.  Netflix & YouTube both work fine.  No problem.  Can't find out how to mirror websites to my HDTV.  Keep getting error message about IOS not compatible.   Please help!

While iOS support is coming, I don't believe it's available yet for mirroring.  You can only officially mirror from 'Chrome'.   Should be available soon though either officially or through a 3rd party app.  On Android I believe the Koush API allows you to mirror from Android devices, but this of course doesn't really help you if you're on an iPhone or iPad.

John,

I am not sure what you mean by mirroring but if you mean what you see on the iPad mini is the same as on your TV I just got Chromecast for my iPad mini and it mirrors for me. What I see on my iPad is what I see on the TV if I choose a movie from Netflix or YouTube.

It isn't like plugging in a thunderbolt cable to your laptop and seeing what is on your desktop on your TV.

Chromecast is different. What you see on your iPad mini screen isn't mirrored exactly on your TV.  Chromecast has limitations.

The expectations for mirroring to a TV range from displaying the contents of the screen (webpage) to full video and audio (movie), which virtually eliminates multitasking. Now mention "Miracast" and you have what amounts to a wireless HDMI connection with full multitasking.
