Movies with black bars on the left and right of the screen
« on: December 20, 2013, 12:58:41 PM »
I have been using the Netflix app that came with my Philips TV. I just installed Chromecast and connected it to my iPad mini and it works fine. The only issue I see is that YouTube and Netflix movies are centered on the TV with two black bars on the right and left. I want the movie to fill the entire screen. I have searched for an answer and so far this forum is supposed to be the '#1 forum' for such discussions. The posts in the iOS category are scanty. Can anyone help me with this issue?

I did send FEEDBACK per Google's Chromecast instructions found here (see last questions):

I was wondering if someone knew how to fix this or is this one of Chromecast's limitations?

Here's a full HD test video.

I get a slight banding of 1\8 inch all around on a 40 inch TV.
There may be a setting in Netflix to request HD. Some movies may be in a lower resolution.
