LocalCast
« on: March 02, 2014, 03:35:24 PM »
I just downloaded LocalCast from the Play Store and initial testing shows a lot of promise. I was able to put my own photos and videos on the TV from my Galaxy S4. Some of the higher resolution images and videos were really slow to load, and stuttered.  The still image quality was good. The video image quality looked a little over driven. One high res video wouldn't play at all, but overall it looks extremely promising. I just noticed an upgrade has been released, but I haven't downloaded it yet. I'll post more when I try it out.

The app is available for android. (I'm using Android 4.3) I don't know if there is an ios version available.
The new update seems to work well and I can select files by folder, or category (music/photos/videos).
My WiFi is not the best (ie. it's terrible) and the app still works quite well.
I'm really enjoying the app and it doesn't have any crazy permissions either!
Love to hear everyone else's luck with it.

I had never heard of this app before.  It is not on the list of Chromecast apps in the find apps section of the chromecast app.  I downloaded it and played a few videos from my sdcard.  Worked great.
