Chromecast loses network details
« on: December 01, 2013, 07:57:28 PM »
This evening my daughter mentioned that the TV was randomly switching to the Chromecast even though no one was casting to it. When she showed me what was happening, the Chromecast screen showed a message that: "<chromecastname> connected to , but can't access the internet". I did a factory reset on the stick, but no joy. The Chromecast is not even broadcasting its own SSID for setup/maintenance, even after the factory reset. It is as if the wireless nic in the stick is dead.

Anyone heard of this yet?

Try replacing the USB cable.

No dice. Tried 3 different cables. 1 booted to a blank screen and the other 2 gave the same result as the original cable where the Chromecast boots the normal screen but it says that it can't connect to the internet and doesn't show the configured SSID.
