College user - won't make me authenticate
« on: January 17, 2015, 12:37:04 AM »
Hey everyone,

So I just used some Christmas money to buy a Chromecast. I've been really excited about it. I attend a university and the wireless here makes you authenticate with your credentials when first joining the network.

Obviously, the Chromecast doesn't have a browser blah blah blah and like many others at a university I couldn't set it up.

So I tried spoofing my MAC address and successfully did so, but the network didn't acknowledge the change in my MAC address, i.e. it didn't ask me to authenticate with my credentials. Therefore the whole spoofing trick didn't work. Is there any reason for this, and is there anything I can do to force my network to let me authenticate? I really want to use my Chromecast. Thanks for your help.
