There's been a tidal wave of new apps and services for the Chromecast over the past couple of months ever since Google opening it up to all the developers. But the one thing we haven't seen yet is the ability to stream live tv via your Chromecast. Well the wait for that is almost over as Aereo has announced that as of May 29th they'll be releasing a new version of their Chromecast app that supports the Aereo technology and service. In case you're unfamiliar Aereo has gained some controversy because it let's you stream you over the air television stations to your web browser via a little antenna that captures the source to a remote server. It's actually a pretty awesome convenience and let's your watch all your local stations...anywhere. There's been a bit of a legal battle from broadcasters who have been upset at Aereo letting viewers watch their local stations when not at home (it's been banned in Utah), but other cities are still in a sort of legal limbo and we see it as a great convenience that only makes sense. Come May 29th you'll be able to join in the fun. Thanks Aereo!
