Chromecast And Android / Re: CC suddenly can't connect. Configuration fails
« on: December 17, 2014, 10:20:12 AM »
I'd try a new usb cable. I had one fail on one ofmy chromecasts.  It would work randomly.  Connected it with a new cable and that took care of the problem.

Chromecast And Windows / Re: Cast Photos from a folder in Windows

You can cast local files on your computer through the chrome browser.  You'll have to google the instructions.  I did it once just to test it.   I've forgotton how off the top of my head.

If your device is running kitkat 4.4,2 or better you can now cast your screen through the chromecast app. That should work.  Esfile explorer now has a chromecast plugin.  You can cast any file on your device with it.

Wow,that was a very nice and restrained answer bfm.  I agree ivan has something wrong with his set up, needs an app update or has a defective unit.  I have 4 chromecasts and have very few issues with them.

How is your iPad getting it's Internet connection?  You do need a router with Internet connection and both the iPad and chromecast need to connect to it.

On an andtoid tablet most of yoyr casting is handled through apps like Netflix, YouTube, HBO Go etc.  Download the Chromecast app to your tablet.  Open it choose thr find apps tab.

Chromecast And Android / Re: Chromecast volume

I assume you have the tv volime turned up, right?  What are trying to cast?  Some YouTube videos have poor volume out put on any device.  Try a different app, netflix, crackle, etc.   See if it is any better.

Chromecast And Android / Re: Chromecast Mirror
« on: August 03, 2014, 08:29:07 AM »
Yes and no.  Pure mirroring is only avalable on certain android devices.  So a screen for screen mirror is not fully available yet.  BUT, you can cast pretty much anything on your device to the tv with chromecast supported apps including your personal pictures, music and videos.

Maybe it is an issue with your TV or sound system.  Try plugging in to a different HDMI port or different TV.

Chromecast Help / Re: Chromecast has to stay plugged in
« on: March 30, 2014, 06:01:18 PM »
I have 4 Chromecasts.
Plugged in to:
1. LG TV about 5 years old.  The USB port loses power when the TV is off so I use the supplied power adapter on that TV.  Chromecast will turn on that TV when it is selected but won't switch to the proper HDMI input automatically.
2. Visio TV- has to be turned on manually but USB power is always on.
3. JVC TV - turns on TV and switches to proper HDMI port automatically.  Super cool!  USB always on.
5. Another JVC of course.

Chromecast Apps / Re: LocalCast
« on: March 02, 2014, 05:17:50 PM »
I had never heard of this app before.  It is not on the list of Chromecast apps in the find apps section of the chromecast app.  I downloaded it and played a few videos from my sdcard.  Worked great.

Chromecast Help / Re: Netflix not playing on chromecast
« on: February 21, 2014, 08:15:03 AM »
Sounds like you've covered most of the basic trouble shooting stuff.  Your connection speed is pretty slow.  Are you using the the extension cable that came with the Chromecast?  If not try it with that plugged in.  I've read the extension not only helps Chromecast fit in tight places but also boosts the WiFi antenna.
