I downloaded Local Guru figuring it would be interesting when we travel. I decided to test it and could not get it to work. It identifies that I'm living at the NJ Shore, but can find nothing within 500 miles. I should be seeing thousands of things. I live in a tourist haven and even NYC is within 500 miles. I tried all of the "filters" settings but still show zero results. Sent an email to Joe and hope to hear back.

Chromecast Help / Re: Connectivity (RV television)

Chromecast works with all 3 Furrion TVs in my coach. I'm suspecting a resolution problem. Try different settings on the TV. Start at 480 and see if that helps.

You might need to look on line for a powered converter as opposed to a simple adapter.

Chromecast And Android / Re: No Router

I read an article about an update that allows it by putting out a speaker tone that we can't hear but your phone can and coordinates a connection without using Wi-Fi router. Does anyone know anything on the progress of this development?

Chromecast Apps / Re: Avia App

I haven't tried Avia yet, but am adding that to my list of apps to play with. I would love to see ChromeCast implementation included in VLC!
That would make for some real fun since I love VLC!

The app is available for android. (I'm using Android 4.3) I don't know if there is an ios version available.
The new update seems to work well and I can select files by folder, or category (music/photos/videos).
My WiFi is not the best (ie. it's terrible) and the app still works quite well.
I'm really enjoying the app and it doesn't have any crazy permissions either!
Love to hear everyone else's luck with it.

Chromecast Apps / LocalCast

I just downloaded LocalCast from the Play Store and initial testing shows a lot of promise. I was able to put my own photos and videos on the TV from my Galaxy S4. Some of the higher resolution images and videos were really slow to load, and stuttered.  The still image quality was good. The video image quality looked a little over driven. One high res video wouldn't play at all, but overall it looks extremely promising. I just noticed an upgrade has been released, but I haven't downloaded it yet. I'll post more when I try it out.

Hello All,
I was thrilled to find this forum! I love my Chromecast for viewing vids on my bedroom TV and on my camper TV when I'm hanging in there. It has some limitations that I would love to see a work around for, but I am hoping someone will come out with alternate apps to allow me to get more functionality. I already use You Tube and Netflix. I've downloaded Pandora, Vevo, Revision3 and LocalCast. I will be testing them out and let everyone know how they work. Plus I am always looking for new apps. Googles "Play Music" is horrible because it wont let me use my own mp3 files that I have added to my phone I will be playing with LocalCast today, to see if I can use my phone and my ChromeCast to wirelessly put my artwork on display. I'm using an HDMI cable and adapter right now, but hope to do it Sans wire!
