Good morning everyone,
I'm a Mac rookie, and recently I purchased a Chromecast.
My doubt is that I do not know how to play a video that I have on the hard drive of the iMac, and that it is seen on the television with the Chromecast, because so far all the players I have tried send the image to the Chromecast but not the sound. Any suggestions? THANK YOU
Google's newest and fastest version of their Chromecast streaming dongle, the Chromecast Ultra has dropped in price for the first time since its introduction last year. Normally $69, you can get one now for $50 through Best Buy at the link below. The Chromecast Ultra is the first Chromecast to support 4K and is faster and smoother operating than the two previous Chromecast versions. If you're in the market for a Chromecast to stream (cast) your videos and movies, music or apps to your big screen tv or especially if you want to watch shows shot in 4K video then the Chromecast Ultra is the one to get. I solved mine by changing the Audio Settings in my Vizio TV to "fixed" analog audio out.
My devices and equipment:
Vizio D65u-D2 65" 4K UHD Smart HDTV
Google Chromecast Ultra
Samsung Galaxy Note 5
Running on Comcast Xfinity Extreme 150 (but only getting max 29 mbps on the Vizio and can't figure it out)
Network = 5GHz isolated
Router = Apple AirPort Extreme
Modem = Arris sb6183
My issue occurred when trying to cast the Google Play movie trailers in the Google Play App from my Note 5 to the Vizio TV.
There was video but no audio.
I could 'reboot' the Chromecast on the Vizio (via the Google Home App on my Note 5 in the 'card' for the Vizio, under Devices, click the 3-dot icon top right for menu/Settings options and select 'reboot') but that would only correct the audio for 1 Play of that trailer. If I tried to play any other content, the audio was once again missing.
I read these posts and played with Vizio Settings.
Vizio Menu >> Audio >> Analog Audio Out >> select "Fixed".
That should not have any effect on the Chromecast Ultra or casting, but it does.
I hope this helps others - Cheers!

You can turn it off on each phone. I agree that it is not a good feature, and it seems to be widely disliked. If you look on the android police site they have an article about this

Hello! Im having some serious problem with my audio on my chromecast, it's not in sink and the sounds is sparky aswell. I have tried everything on the chromecast website, switching HDMI port restarting the tv, chromecast (even factory reset it) and the router. I have also tried casting from both my computer and Android phone, looked into the advanced installation of the sound for the chromecast. I dont have any speakers to plug into the tv. But the thing is that its a brand new TV and the chromecast worked fine on my old one. No idea what the problem could bee, Also its mostly NETFLIX that has this problem, and playing back for 30 sec doesn't work... nothing works! so frustated...

I just bought a Chromecast 2. Everything works fine so far.
Only one thing is a little bit annoying:
When I stream Netflix or Spotify for example via my smartphone, any other smartphone in my WLAN may pause or stop my stream. The other phones get an icon therefore in their notifications bar. So they can see all the time in der notifications bar what I am streaming and they can stop or finish it.
Is there a way that only I can control my Chromecast although other smartphones are in my WLAN and to turn off notifications on other smartphones?
Thanks for help!

How far can my wifi be from my Chomecast? I have just bought the latest Chromecast and am trying to follow the instructions. The wifi network I plan to use is approximately 20-25 feet from the TV to which I will be attaching the Chromecast and there are three walls between the two. My other problem is that I can only set it up using my computer which is downstairs and even further away from the Chromecast. Would I need to borrow my daughter's laptop to carry out the setup procedures? This is very frustrating as there were no instruction on the box and I assumed that the setup would be done from the TV with the Chromecast attached. Help!!
P.S. Can I run the setup by connecting the Chromecast to my main TV (Which is closer to my wifi modem) then connect it to my secondary TV?
